Turbo engine setup
Hello all.
Im looking to expand the output power of my NA.
I currently have a very healthy but standard 1.6 and this car is to only be used on the track and i would like to pretty much double the current power from the 85kw to something more like the 160kw.
Im looking for a complete engine setup.
So maybe a stock SE engine or someone wanting to sell a complete setup that is already proven.
Does anyone know of someone parting out an SE or another turbo NA or NB?
Thanks.

Re: Turbo engine setup
Way too much work especially for such a crap engine, just bolt a turbo/exhaust/FMIC/Injectors/Clutch on and clip an ecu in, tune and race.

Hi Dan.
I assume you are calling the SE engine crap?
What is a safe output for a standard 1.6 turbo'ed?

Re: Turbo engine setup
Absolutely hopeless in OEM form, and expensive to make it any good.
The stock engine and 5 speed is completely completely safe at 220ftlb at the crank, measured at the wheels and calculated back. (ie take rwhp and rpm and calculate the torque)
The normal accepted limit is actually 250.
Here is the calculator which I use when dyno tuning to calculate the torque we are making.
Plug 220 TQ in and then choose what rpm you would like to make that at (stock rev limit is 7500) and see what power that makes.

Re: Turbo engine setup
For the sake of everyone reading, lets have some of this discussion here.
What will you use it for and what are the current mods?

And where are you? If you're in Victoria, you're going to have a very hard time making it legal.

This is what you need ^^^.
Also you probably want to get a coolant reroute kit, and/or a alloy radiator to deal with the higher temps.

...... doesn't need to care about legal! Just do what Dann suggests, and stock toothpicks in glovebox to deal with bugs & permanent wide as a croc grin on your face!
