What state depends on what you need to do and hence the cost

I knew there would be stuff I missed
Its NSW
Car would already have bigger brakes and be tuned
I can't think of anything else I would have to do to pass
I don't think he would be interested in the diff or clutch etc
I'm guessing it would be a case of getting him to check everything out and pass it

The requirements will differ slightly from engineer to engineer, but all will focus on emissions, safety (brakes etc), noise pollution etc.

You will also need to meet IM240 emission requirements. You are best to get in contact with an engineer and seek their advice. I have heard as a general rule, budget 1k give or take just for the engineering certificate.

Sean's thread (although a few years old) still has some very useful information, including the contact information for some engineers in NSW http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=19618

Also refer to this document for more contacts (not sure if it has been updated since 2010) but most should still be valid. http://www.scribd.com/doc/29537458/Vsi-15-Engineering-Signatories-Rev-20-23march-2010
