Im thinking about upgrading my Link piggyback ECU to a megasquirt pnp, can anyone recommend a tuner in Perth who would be able to install and tune?

There are lots of good tuners out there, but have any of them used the megasquirt software before? When I went with megasquirt that was my problem. I had to train the tuner on the software.

I also had the typical situation where they try selling me the ecu brand they know and love, even though it was loads more expensive and had less features.

Good news is that there are people in the club whole know a fair bit about MS. As for installation, it is super easy if your wiring harness is still stock. In addition MS is backed by a worldwide community of users that are great when it comes to helping.

Which version of mspnp are you going for? I would recommend mspnp2, it is loads better than version 1.

I am tuning my car running mspnp2 the morning using evolution R's dyno, they will hire there dyno out

SiG makes good points - if I'm looking at things correctly it looks like you guys live in the same city? Could be worth catching up to see how he's gone with his MS and tuning.

Thanks guys, yes I was looking at the MSPNP2, after reading an article that Dann did on here about turboing an NA. I would say all my wiring is still standard.
I have the turbo, just want to update the antique piggyback ECU so can turn the boost up a tad, safely. I also have a fifth injector so maybe looking at getting rid of that and getting 4 new injectors.
Will do some homework and chat to a few people here in Perth. Am glad of any help/advise from the Perth guys

Hi Nicky, depending on your goal, before you consider buying new injectors, I have a set of 360cc injectors out of a Familiar GTX that I am not using that I can sell, but it depends on how much power you are looking for. My current set up has 550cc injectors , is running 9psi of boost and the injectors are running at 60% duty cycle - 80% is pretty much the limit before you hit issues.

In terms of a shopping list for diyautotune

-- MSPNP2 (obviously)
-- GM Intake temp sensor (IAT) and bung (Ali or Stainless depending on pipes)
-- GM Knock Sensor and pig tail (if you don't already have one)
-- Boost Control Solenoid Kit

Other items
-- Wideband AFR Controller / Sensor / Gauge - Not sure which one, because they are seem to have some issue
-- Optional - FlyingMiata knock sensor mount, or you can find somewhere else to mount it on the engine.

Been a while since I have seen your car. Do you have an intercooler? If not, you might need to get on depending on power levels and boost pressure you want to run.

Steps to get set up..
-- Weld on IAT bung to pipe work and fit IAT
-- Wire IAT into existing air flow meter connector (2 wires)
-- Fit Knock sensor to engine
-- Wire knock sensor to ECU (2 wires)
-- fit boost Control Solenoid in engine bay and re-route vac hoses
-- Wire in Boost Control - 1 wire to ECU, other to switched 12v power.
-- Replace stock O2 sensor with sensor from wideband
-- Wire in wideband controller as per the instructions that come with it - probably hardest bit to sort
-- Wire the wideband into the stock wiring.
-- Install ECU
-- Load up MSextra 3.2.5 (3.2.1 the mspnp2 comes with has a few bugs, as I found)
-- Load a base map
-- start the car and start tuning

I am in Perth and have been running the MS2 DIYPNP for a while now. I have got most things sorted out, running VICS, radiator fans, alternator control, 460cc injectors (RX8), MAF removed, PWM idle, PWM boost, etc on my '00 NB8A+T.
I am by no means a pro at any of this but have a reasonable grasp on how everything works (took a while!) so if you want to take a look at anything on my car or shoot me a question feel free to.

Si.G - Quick question, you say to get a GM Knock Sensor and pig tail. I know the DIYPNP has a knock circuit but from everything I have researched it is not really suitable to use.
(from Matt Cramer at DIYAutoTune "The DIYPNP knock circuit has a bit of a bug in it - we have a work around if you need to use it, but it's not as sophisticated as the KnockSenseMS or other options. It is neither tuned nor does it change sensitivity over RPM. It's just the standard MS1/Extra knock circuit, which is designed to send a signal when the voltage level from a knock sensor exceeds an adjustable set point.")
Question is have you got this working suitably with this circuit? or are you running the sensor signal through a KnockSenseMS/KnockLite prior to the MS?
