Has anyone tried one of these?
Looking at putting one in my Drivers side AC mount, to keep an eye on things, since i am installing a boost tee.

Has red lights (to match the stock NB cluster)
Boost
Oil Temp
Oil Pressure &
Volts
How hard would this be to install on a SE?
Has anyone bought one? is it a good product?

I guess the next question is, what would you suggest is a cheap worthwhile alternative for a boost guage
Preferably red dials, reliable and cheap. (defi style you might say)

Remember if its below your dash then its only there for reference and will not alert you of a failure or potential failure.

I was looking at getting this gauge from Greddy:
It has a controller box that stays in the engine bay so all you run into the cabin is one harness.
I think nengun had the cheapest price when I was looking
Only thing is it's 62mm.

Personally I prefer my boost gauge to output PSI rather than Bar pressure - it's what I'm used to.
The best, and most natural, place to put your boost gauge is where the dummy oil pressure gauge sits but finding boost gauges shallow enough to fit is the problem. SpeedHut makes a gauge perfect for this but it's expensive. See the '95MSM Boost Gauge Mod thread:
http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index.php/topic,13678.0.htmlI don't recommend cheap gauges, some of the China gauges are just plain crap - installing gauges is a hassle to start with; hating them and subsequently re-installing decent gauges is even more hassle and money so try and do it right the first time.

Defi bf's are a pretty good match at night with the 8b needle color

So what is a great way to mount enough gauges and/or warning lights to properly protect a boosted race motor?
Where do you put them?
And what's the correct type?

Preferably have the senders read by the ECU and have it trigger a huge warning light. Mine also lowers the rev limit.
If you are using pressure transducers that output 0-5v then it's trivial to share between the ECU and a gauge. For thermistors you need to measure the bias resistor inside the gauge if you want to share it, so it might be easier to run a parallel thermistor.

Above the dash. Easy to read. Full sweep and with a warning light. If you can log to the ecu and or peak recall evwn better.
