Hey guys!
after alot of possitive feedback from this intake kit thingo i decided to perchase it from ebay, 350 including shipping. AEM intake its called. apparently gives 10+kw at the wheels so i jizzed at this but was not quite convinced. but i decided it to do it! y not hey? anyway... if u have read any of my posts you probs already know whats gonna happen. me and joel fail for years trying to make it work. well.... you couldnt be more right! anyway here are a few pics and details of what happened
first we took out the air box and then all this "stuff" joel is kindly pointing at
here is it out. just had to take clamps and hoses off
then we had to remove all the piping own to the snail, was pretty simple untill the last little bend bit. this bit took ages trying to yank, ect and a hacksaw blade wasnt working so good... we have a term " you gotta brake sh*t to fix sh*t", so we just got the biggest knife we had and did it in like 10 seconds...
use a knife... so much easier then anything else!!!! ( if ur thinking y didnt we just take the clamp off and pull the hose, the clamp was off, the hose was bloody welded on over time!! and in a really awkward spot )
and this is my cute snail!!
was fairly easy from there, just put the factory air sensor box thingo back inbetween the piping that was supplyed.
something here that may actully help someone out there, there was a something in the way of the heat shield thing so we had to cut it, just used an angle grinder,
went in nicely, here is a pic, as u can see it was now nightime and 20 million hours after we started.
ive had a few ppl sorta imply im dodge and dont mount things bla bla bla... so this was for you guys
if it were up to me i would have only used 1 zip tie but i used 2 just for u guys!
ok now stuff got annoying... car wouldnt rev past like 3k revs, then car wouldnt idle propaly dipping between 1k and 200 rpm, took if for a spin which we thourght was smart... engin light came on, wouldnt rev past 2k revs.... lucky we didnt get far down the road! so after hours of trying to work it out we saw that one of the contacters on the air flow metre was bent! ( is fine in pic because this was after we fixed it but u can see 3 pins, the middle one was bent right up and not contacting.
runs great now, sounds boss, spooling sounds sweeeet and sooo loud DDDD also didnt think and it seemed to give me more boost, was running 10, then after on the testdrive when it worked, went to 15 be accedent, didnt even see it till the last minute. ( sorry babey). it was crazy as i have never felt that much power in a car haha. thats now what i aspire to :p ( i turned my boost back down to like 10 so it doesnt run suppperrrr lean. hope this was ammusing at the least haha, big thanks to joel, couldnt have done it without ur help! and Simon for the endless messages of help ect! tell me what u guys think!
thanks,
James
