Hi there,

After wanting to have an MX5 as a fun weekend / track car for as long as I remember, I've just taken the plunge and purchased an NA8 which is running an AVO kit with a T28, ID 1000 injectors, Haltech PS1000 etc... etc... The car is currently tuned to run on Caltex Eflex which is a pain in the butt seing as the nearest Caltex servo with Eflex is 150 km away

I'm hoping that those with more knowelege and experience than me may be able to recommend a workshop who can give the car a once over for me. My thought pattern is to take the car to a shop and leave it there to have the full 'once over' check before I start to beat on it. I'd hate to break it from running too much boost / too lean etc.. and figure that if I can get it all checked out then it should be sorted and right to go.

Hoping for a shop recommendation that could give the engine a through mechanical check and I will also get the ECU re-mapped to run on RON98 for convenience. If the same shop can do both then even better!

My first thought is Maztech since I had some work done by them MANY moons ago on a SII RX7, and they are also Haltech agents, but was hoping for some first hand recomendations from fellow owners.

If Maztech are Haltech agents they would be the ones to take it to.

RoadtrackRally should be able to sort you out with everything.
My friend Brad works there and his boss is an MX5 enthusiast as well.

Re Autoworks in Westall have done a few turbo setups for Mx5's as well.

All good friends of mine and can vouch for their work.

Once you go alcohol you never go back.

Get it tuned on E70 and keep a drum of fuel for when you drive it on weekends and at the track.

I tuned a T28 AVO powered NA with ID1000 injectors on E85 and picked up 70rwhp at 4500rpm. Its hard to go back to having no midrange torque again.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I've settled on Maztech since they are Haltech agents and the car is there at the moment having a thorough health check as well as the addition of a Flex fuel sensor & appropriate re-mapping.

Looking forward to getting it back once they are finished with it and being able to run it on whatever I feel like with it autocorrecting the mapping & boost to suit whatever's in the tank.

Best of both worlds.
