Haltech PS1000 idle dip under load.

Postby bear2230 » Tue Dec 18, 2012 11:03 pm

Hi All,

My Haltech is a great stand alone but there is a lot to be said for the silky smooth factory ECU.
I have been getting some irregular idle dip when I turn on the aircon and/or the lights. It drops to 600 and then goes to 1400 maybe 2 or 3 times over about 5 seconds then settles down back to 1000rpm which is normal.
It doesn't do it all the time but Its giving me the shits and its been back to the tuner with no joy. He is saying there is just not the adjustability to get it perfect. It is a brand new Alternator and he just says when there is extra load the Haltech sometimes just takes a little time to adjust.
Anyone got any suggestions??????

You'll have better luck on the haltech forums.

Is it a PNP?

Do you know what options exist to catch the AC idle dip? I wrote a fair bit off code for MegaSquirt 2 to improve the AC idle up and smooth idle conditions when load is variable. What does the Haltech offer?

Sorry I don't know, but I will delve in to it over the next few days as I'm now off for a month. As far as I'm aware, and from what Ben @ Port Hacking Auto tells me there is nothing.
I will also try Col @ Ricol as he has worked with Haltech on CT's car on the Idle control so maybe he could shed some light.

Yes PNP and I don't have the technical knowledge to understand a lot on the Haltech forum but I'm still learning....

What model mx5 do you have? nevermind.... in your sig...

From the looks of it, it isnt plug n plug, and use a patch loom.

If you could find a wiring diagram for the patch loom, that would be super helpful.

Some helpful links.

I have been playing with the settings on my haltech's IAC, it is working ok, but don't have any aircon etc. Plus it's control is well limited.
