Why would you modify a SE when your can get a NA and do it cheaper? Lols

I would think Dave in Melbourne makes 180odd rwkw. Highest I have noticed!

Im building one right now that may be one of the quickest.

I would be interested to see what other se's make. Mine has been a bit disastrous over the last couple of years. Broke a rod when it made 165kw, rebuilt it with mania using carillos, pistons etc and made 180 on their dyno but was never right. Now being rebuilt with new head, supertech valves and springs, cam gears, intake manifold and begi turbo kit. Will be interested to see what kind of power it makes. Did 1.09.75 at Wakefield when it made 165

See yours isnt an SE anymore is it.

Begi S4?

Was kinda hoping this would be the only one with a proper tubular manifold and garrett turbo !

S3

Not much SE left on mine, nor the one you are building by your own admission. Good luck with the rods!

This one will just run 220rwhp or so. Rods should be fine. If not well then it will make 300rwhp lol.

Yep that's me. I read you did the same time at the last trackday, will hopefully be at the next one and not crash or kill another engine. Look forward to a good rivalry

No comment about modding an NA instead. Not going to be drawn into that one! I did enjoy my 89 Eunos though.

If I'm the Dave in Melbourne mentioned above then BARMY actually only has 174rwkw. I now live in Bendigo and am often to be seen at tracks around Victoria having a lot of fun. The original motor and factory turbo have done at least 70,000kms with that level of power and the original drivetrain is untouched at a total of 120,000kms. The original discs did 117,000kms. There's been an oil cooler since I started going to track days. There'll be better engine cooling soon with summer just around the corner (!) and me pushing the motor a bit harder now.

It will probably never become the quickest SE in the country as it would need to have a quick driver, which is not me (although thanks to Craig for all the really useful advice at the Racecraft day at Winton yesterday).

The turbo NB ex-BJ (now sold?) would be the quickest SE/NB type MX5 by far and, unlike mine, has had the internals done as well. If you were enough of a badge snob to put an SE badge on it (mine's in the garage somewhere if you want one) it would have everything an SE has plus heaps more.

Bjones car?

Doubt it.

Also youre saying that your SE has stock internals, clutch and turbo and is putting out 175rwkw, manias dyno in the middle of winter??

Oh, let's make a wild guess - T28 and Megasquirt.

Steampipe tubular manifold, GT2860, Adaptronic, all the supporting parts and replacement parts done just to be sure.

Its an upgrade, didnt like his Mania stage 1 kitted SE driving worse and going slower than some kids n/a home tuned 1.6...

His budget of 5-7000 or something like that includes a full tear down of the engine externals, new seals, water pump belts etc, intercooler piping, steampipe tubular manifold, SS downpipe with separated gases, clutch, flywheel, ecu, tune, GT2860, professional tune, engineering etc etc etc

Bjones car was a nb8b and more like a SP design tbh. Lets not drawn into it tbh.

Dave, your car was the one mentioned, 174/180 not to far off.

Looking forward to some competition, Cooper from these forums is running his SE now and once he gets some decent tyres will be great competition. I need to replace my clutch and front rotors until then i'm useless. Nevertheless see you back on track soon :D
