I previously fitted a Exceedy HD on my supercharged motor and after two years of mostly track work it's looking pretty tired!
What clutches are recommended for turbo MX5's? I rarely drive on the street and weight isn't a huge concern.

I have an ACT on my car and love it. Rather expensive but worth every penny.
If you're doing mostly track work, you might consider a puck/button clutch - ACT make several for the MX5 depending on how much power you are pushing.

I have an Exedy 5 puck clutch in mine - holds up to the task but I hate the shudder in traffic. Dave recently fitted the Flyin Miata Happy Meal clutch to his SP and it feels fantastic by comparison, stock pedal effort and great bite with plenty of KW to tame. This will be my next clutch for sure.

My SE is still on the original clutch!
After only 108,000kms
I dare say it will die eventually, but still works fine now.
Must be because i am such a gentle driver

And no sooner did I type that than Dave rings to say the new clutch is now slipping. Scratch the FM happy meal off your list. SPy had a custom clutch setup fitted in QLD that he's been really happy with. Minx, my SP (std) clutch lasted around 100,000km before it began to slip. The Exedy definitely doesn't slip, but the shudder is nasty. Wouldn't be an issue on a track car though.

Give Ace clutches a call, they did a combo for me. No slipping, drives like a standard clutch.

Now you've cursed it. I give it 3 weeks before it's due

I have Exedy Sports clutch from Mania and I'm really happy with it.
Almost as light as stock as well.

Thanks for the notice, what power is Dave putting out?
My SP makes 125kw @ rears and appears to have the standard clutch still, I could be wrong but have not physically pulled it apart yet. Any idea which direction he will be going?

Dave is running around 170rwkw, I'm running 150. Latest word is that it's a bedding in issue, and he needs to re-adjust the pedal free play, so we'll see if that does the trick. I can't see FM selling many clutches unless they perform as advertised, so it's either a fluke dud, or it just needs the adjustment.

I have the Exedy Stage 2 clutch on my SP and have been very happy with it. Car has approx 170 kw at the wheels and it has been in for 2 years. I do some commuting in my car and apart from the occassional shudder when it is cold and I am not concentrating it is fine.
I bougth mine through Racing Beat on one of my visits to L.A.

In 2008, it had the Exedy Sports Tuff clutch fitted.
MX5 Mania fitted it at the same time as when my engine was being rebuilt (SP bent rod issue). With forged rods and turbo (specific) pistons the only change, running on SP standard boost (8psi), my SP now produces 147rwkw (as opposed to about 127rwkw from factory).
Since fitted I haven't experience any slippage, and it remains as smooth and as light as a standard MX5 clutch.

My previous clutch was a Exeedy HD (sports tuff) in 1600cc size.
I'm trying a Exceed HD (sports tuff) in 1800cc size for more surface area but I'm also going to get it upgraded for a bit more clamping force.
