Quite CAI for SE

Is it possible to make /purchase a CAI for a SE

I have a CAI on my Forester and its no louder than the standard air filter so why is there so much induction noise on the SE

Those arent my own principles, Thats as much of a quote from somebody else as I can fit in my sig.

You and I both know that what was meant by my post was that the large diameter, baffleless, cold air intakes such as those employed on most SEs, as opposed to adding a tube to the stock airbox of a subaru, as most of theirs are.

The reason that most subaru intakes are rubbish is that the AFM is moulded into the stock airbox enclosure in a lot of models.

In other words, most street subaru intakes dont actually work. Where as the aem intake on SEs are proven to work quite well.

My answer was short, ignored all the BS such as brand, looks, and BS opinion, and therefore was a useful piece of advice, If there was only one thing you took from my answer it would have been that the type of intake that OP was trying to avoid is the type that actually works. It was short and straight to the point, it said that if you want to make power buy an intake that is loud.

Id say thats exactly what lee was talking about.

OK, the second answer is informative but the first one is still a shutout. He's placed an open question about whether other CAIs work after his first thread dead ended on a narrow discussion of two solutions that didn't suit him. I guess he was hoping to canvas opinions and experiences from a wider audience.

I am not sure if you have read about the CAI system from SMB..

I have not heard the system in person but because it is closed system it may not be as loud as the open filter systems like AEM. And this is, I may say, a real CAI... Maybe someone that had this system before can give some advice..

I have a SE as well and if I am getting a system I would consider this or the Begi system...

also refer earlier posts viewtopic.php?f=81&t=52255. Not sure about other jurisdictions but in NSW RTA rules require CAIs to be enclosed.

I've read about a way of making the Flyin' Miata intake quieter here:

They talk about a flame retardant compressed polyester weave - "Poly-Fil Nu-Foam Pre-Cut: 15x17x1".

I'm going to try the same stuff on an AEM intake and see if it makes it any quieter.
