I'm sure it does what most intake kits do...Makes a nice rorty noise but wont make much more power.

Personally I would not pay $170 for it.

What would you pay for it? Serious.

$100, don't know if that is viable commercially or not. The parts are on eBay / supercheap for substantially less than that but I would pay a bit more for the convenience of receiving it all in a box ready to go.

No offence intended to Skreem, just my honest opinion.

If he could back it up with some before and after dyno figures it may add some credibility to the product

You want power? Upgrade your whole exhaust system, you want noise? Get the Skreem intake

Its just an observation, Skreem made the comment that it provided a kw increase. I'm interested in his kit but I'm not convinced the there are any kw in it. With some cars a CAI can result in lost hp.

At the risk of insulting a sponsor, don't believe anything with-out data. Could increase your hp by a minimal amount, but it would depend on every individual system.

That's all I meant by having him supply the dyno figures. I'm not bagging him at all but I'm a bit sceptical.

You have every reason to be, as nothing he has provided backs up with evidence. It's perfectly normal don't worry.

With my basic understanding of intake harmonics I can't help feel that shortening the intake will cause a mid-range power hole.

Im very new to this MX5 world about 7 days to be exact

One thing I noticed is the under bonnet heat in the SE and where the air filter was located .My first thoughts were get rid of that mass of black plastic that would heat up the stale air and get the air intake to somewhere colder.

EDIT just had another read you need to ADD $130 for filter and other bits

But love this bit ::::"This intake will give your roadster that grunt, that speed and that power."

CAIs (cold air intakes) make VERY little difference on a turbocharged car. If you want a scientific explanation just say.

Thanks Dann my understanding cold air is denser than hot isn't that a good thing even for a turbo?

So the OEM filter and plastic box is ok for the SE what other mod could I look at for air intake that would give benefit

The biggest Problem with the SE is that the air inlet pipe t the turbo is very small.
here is the solution from MX5 Mania
I have a very simalar setup on the Rally SE
