Catch Tank ??

Postby olboy » Thu Oct 13, 2011 3:31 pm

I have a Turbo na6, unregoed trackday/supersprint car
I have to fit a catch tank of over 2ltrs
You may not have noticed but there isn't alot of spare room around the engine in a mx5
Anyone have any good ideas on where to put it and what to use
I thought I might use a length of pipe with the ends capped and put it behind the bumper
Mounting it in the boot sounds good but I don't know how well a long hose running under the car would work,
It might block up like an S bend under a sink
The tanks you get from supercheap are only about 500ml I think
Any creative ideas

On my old rally car which had heaps of room under the bonnet (LA Lancer) I had a 2 litre paint tin pop riveted to the radiator support with a hose going into the top of it. That was only after the rally scrutineers got tough with us and made folks stop using 2 litre soft drink/milk containers.

On 2nd thought is it legal to just plumb back into the inlet between the air filter and the turbo

Absolutely. If you have an air flow meter you'll need to plumb it back in after the afm.

Yep use pipe and mount it above the coils. Or inside the plenum.
