Oil cooler and Water Wetter

Postby Novice1 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 10:00 pm

Pre install of 9 coil oil coolerand oil filter relocation kit and changing coolant to water wetter with coolant, engine temperatures after long drive, hard driving 105-110 degrees.

Post install temperatures 40 minute drive in busy traffic temperature gauge didn't go above 85 degrees.

QUick burst on high boost over 400 yards, temp gauge momentarily went over 85 degrees but quickly fell back below 85 degrees.

Very happy indeed.

That sounds good.

Maybe a little cool?
My thermostat seems to keep the engine at 89-91 as standard temp.
With 95 usually street high.

Waiting on install location pics! :)

I too am suprised by the low reading. The only thing I can surmise was that the air temperature last night would have been 16 degrees or less.

Off to look at another Mx5 this morning.....I will see what temps show up on the dial today during the middle of the day.

Pics later on this evening.

Took photos. However photobucket wants me to pay a subscription fee....they can get lost.

Managed to get temp gauge up to 93 degrees with much spirited driving.

Wun wud advise not ....probably a 500 gm weight saving.

Waiting for Richard Mx5 plus to provide a part that will allow more direct airflow to the oil cooler.

What brand is the oil filter relocation kit, because that is where I want to get mine put minus the oil cooler?
Also where to get one. Or is it custom made?
Looks like a pretty neat job.

How does it bolt on to the body there, can't really tell from the picture.

I only know of the Thompson relocation kit that goes to the front and don't think the $300 shipped is really worth it. Way overpriced compared to the firewall ones, but I don't want the filter up there.

Purchased kit from Triple nine automotive, coopers plains queensland. All up delivered to door $240, the relocation kit cost twice as much as the oil cooler. Didn't purchase hoses, used Superflow ones as recommended by MX5 plus.

No idea how it fits. Sorry couldn't be more help.
