I Can't Beleeeve Sprintex

Living in sunny WA and also wanting a supercharger I noticed a newpaper pr job that Sprintex right round the corner is developing a SC for the Honda Jazz 1.5l. Thinking well this looks good, easy solution for my 1.8 mx5 and I get local support.
The answer was no kit for the largest selling sportscar in the world, which has been demonstrated to have benefits in going down the supercharger route. Kits for Harley Davidson motorcycles but not the mx5!
Have to look at an FFS coldside?

maybe its because there are already lots of s/c kits available on the market?
If they were to make one for the NC... understandable.
But for NA/NB they would have to compete with...
Jackson racing, Moss motors, FFS, Rotrex, Kenne bell, VF engineering and not to mention Turbo kits.

True but look how many NA & NBs there are. NA will be always be a classic because it was first. NB because it is better. NC dunno (no flames please!) a niche market for any supercharger company, if it had confidence in its product. I just don't wan't to be the guinea pig who buys the first one.

if someone made a Sprintex kit, could this ultimately be a cheaper SC solution (after R&N costs were recovered) for MX-5? I would love to see SC kit available more cheaply for MX-5 owners.
Damn clever thought, as Sprintex is a long established Australian company. They are not interested so it would ultimately be up to an independent tuner to take it into the market. I might just fly this on the GB superchargers thread.

Actually after speaking to the business development manager, Jay, they are not blind to the popularity of the MX-5, just very busy at the moment.
They are in discussion with a VERY VERY well known MX-5 supercharger developer in the US, who for contractual reasons cannot be involved with Sprintex until next year. An Aussie MX-5 kit sold to the US and around the world could be on the cards.
So start hassling them now to show Aussie interest. I would love to have a Sprintex kit under my bonnet. Their number is 61 8 9262 7222
or contact via
http://www.sprintex.com.auOn a side note, and I had to laugh. I have always been besotted by the dynamic BMW new mini, especially the R53 supercharged Cooper but chose the MX for reliability and also to escape the avariceness of BMWs service and parts charging.
According to Sprintex they have developed an aftermarket upgrade because the Mini Cooper S design integrates the SC with the water pump, so if one or the other fail, bang you're up for a total unit, cost of a failed water pump or SC is around $3500!!

Are you sure it is going to be an Aussie kit to the US and not the other way around?
Peter.

Very good point - Mr "J"

might just include the Aussie SC in a US developed kit. Either way it would be nice to know that Sprintex would be available for an Mx-5. If Sprintex sees the Mx-5 community showing interest, the kit will be distributed in Australia. All good.

I know when i was looking at first modifing my car they where interested then , CAPA (looked like a belt drĂven turbo) came to the market....., Then all went quiet and a few calls fell on deaf ears so to speak, so I then went the turbo route and went a little overboard.....

I would say this to. Probably not a massive market locally for an MX5 kit so it would be cheaper for the company to sell another tried and proven kit under license.

If the Mini Cooper Supercharger is anything to go by our 1.8 should put out 200+ hp 150kw.
Now that I like. Even better if they can fit and tune.....
