To the OP,
Any reason why a legal (emission tested) AVO Stage One (with electronics) turbo kit for the NA6 is not good enough?

If you are on a tight budget.. don't do it.

Only turbo it, until you have enough money and then double it.

what philz said. there's a group buy happening atm in the FS section for superchargers. sure, the kits will be about 4.5k ish delivered saving you maybe 10% of the original cost, but factor in labour to install it, upgrading to a proper ecu to get rid of that shitty powercard and tune, that's just under 3k.

To the OP,
I agree with sliq & philz and seriously hope you reconsider your turbo kit plans till you have saved up at least $10k. There are always different ways to "skin a cat" as the phrase goes but there is also the issue of reliability. I would at least save for an intercooled turbo kit, upgraded brakes, LSD/Torsen, suspension, wheels/tyres, fuel system, ECU, tuning and labour (unless you are doing it yourself).

In fact, if I was to do the above with my recommended spec list of parts, I doubt even $10k would be sufficient. Plus we have not even considered rebuild costs yet. 8)

I live in the US and have just finished buying the major parts I need for the swap. I have access to a super cheap body of good used parts (ie. the depressed US economy) and it has still cost me a fortune to gather together the stuff. AND I still have to pay GST and import duties when my stuff arrives on the slow boat so this isn't the final cost.

So far:

* BEGi S3 Kit w/ GT2560 - lightly used (1500 miles) - $2100USD (also included almost new cat and cat-back full stainless Enthusa exhaust, LC-1 wideband, RX8 420cc injectors, EBC, Koyo Aluminium Radiator, boost gauge, etc).
* New braided oil feed, drain, coolant lines and fittings (for peace of mind) ($200USD);
* Megasquirt DIYPNP ECU built by Braineac of the miataturbo.net forums ($600USD);
* Walbro 255 HP fuel pump with install kit, AEM FP regulator and Marshall FP gauge (around $200USD all up);
* New ACT Stage 1 clutch ($400USD) and lightly used Racing Beat lightened flywheel ($250USD).

I have also bought a heap of other parts - FM stage 2 VMaxx suspension kit (around $900USD), Sport brakes (about $600USD with the pads and rotors - still need new lines), Energy suspension bushing kit ($220 USD for the master kit), new wheels/tires, M-Tuned coolant reroute kit, etc etc.

AND, there remains a whole bunch of stuff I need to get - I will need a bunch of fittings to fit the FP regulator and gauge, and probably some new fuel line too, a new rear main oil seal to install when the clutch is off, plus all the "what ifs" of an install like this... is my water pump OK? Should I do a timing belt as part of the install? Do I need new plug wires? Little things like spark plugs, fuel filters, etc that should all be replaced as part of the install...

Buying new and from Australia, you should expect to pretty much double these prices. Will you be DIY'ing this project? If not, account for big $$$ for labor too.
