NA 1.8 Supercharged (Flat Spot)

Hi Guys I'm in the middle of searching for an MX5 and I've found a supercharged one which drives really well, problem is it just dies as it comes off idle, the only way to keep it going is up the revs and slide the clutch even then it's a real balancing act and difficult in traffic. I cant consider buying it unless the problem can be sorted.

May just be a dodgy tune?

It certainly was punchy once it got past the flat spot, power was strong and smooth, infact the owner had raced it at Decca Shepparton the day before i drove it.

do you know what ecu he's running or if he's running a piggy back?
most likely what broady said.
flat spot just above idle is a pain in the butt in traffic and potentially dangerous. I had a few near misses when I had that. But eventually I managed to tune it out.

sounds like it might be this one - not that the ad currently sheds much light on engine management:

yeah i noticed stan - more for wasp & other's benefit. btw, while it's a '93 with a 1.8, i reckon it started life as an 1.6, so i wonder whether they got all the 1.6=>1.8 conversion issues sorted first.
