SP Boost Gauge install

Hi there I've finally decided to get a boost gauge installed on my SP, had a search and would like some additional info.

I've decided to install it in the driver side aircon vent and saw a guide on miata.net doing it was just wondering if you need to block off the aircon flowing into the vent? The guide didn't mention anything about that.

Also 52mm gauges are the size that fits fine is that correct?

Lastly is there any particular brand I should go with?

Any advice is appreciated.

Li

52mm dia is correct, no need to worry about the air, it will just flow back through the ducts and come out the remaining vents.

Autometer gauges are popular. If you can justify the cost, go with a good electronic gauge though, rather than a mechanical one. Most of the Japanese manufacturers make them, such as Greddy, HKS, Apexi etc... Electronic gauges can be more accurate, and won't lose accuracy over time like some mechanical ones do.

A good, preferably clean, sports sock, shoved in the vent tube will prevent your gauge getting dislodged by the flow of air.

I had Jason from TT Autos do the install.
It does stop the flow of air from the vent, but the other vents make up for it.

I have a VDO guage, and it works OK, but it seems to read 2lbs lower than it should.

Just make sure that you "put a sock" in the vent tube so that extremes of temperature don't reach the meter.

And make sure the line does not have kinks in it of any kind.
