I've heard that superchargers increase exhaust volume and turbochargers act almost like an additional muffler.

What sort of difference are we talking here? If I stick a supercharger on my car will I need to install an additional muffler to keep it quiet?

I was running the standard exhaust on my supercharged NA6 and it hardly made any difference. I did a test fit with a Genie muffler and it was obnoxiously loud compared to the same muffler fitted to an N/A car. Try it and see! :P

Well my current exhaust is ok at idle and cruise but it seems a bit scary at WOT.

I installed a Magnaflow 5" magnaflow resonator on the weekend. Fits up nice next to the driveshaft and has taken away the highway droning.
