Why do they mount the throttle body to the supercharger in a hotside supercharger setup?
Surely you would get better throttle response leaving it on the intake manifold but I'm guessing there is more to it than that?

The pictures don't clearly show the throttle body because it has been removed and is sitting on the back of the supercharger.
In the JRSC picture it's using the dummy throttle body on the intake manifold.

Thanks for that, especially the miata.net link http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=203287. It would be a superior method of running the supercharger if the boost spike could be managed.

From memory at least one forumite is running a twin throttle cables & TB setup - might have been tedsmx5?

Throttle bodies and Superchargers
From what I've read on miata.net they suggested that at stock pressures on the M45 the release valve could handle the pressure stock. With a higher pressure pulley they installed a blow off valve on the supercharger with good results. It certainly sounds easier than running two throttle bodies and throttle cables.
The downside apparently is with the TB on the intake manifold the supercharger sounds like 'mad max'. I'm not exactly sure how loud they mean by that.

... and watch the pressure spike kill the i/c
Of course, if you are not running an i/c, you probably don't have the boost to do that sort of damage anyway. Search the big forum, there is plenty of info over there, this has been looked at pretty closely by some people who have tried some very interesting stuff, look on the M62 and twin screw threads ... .

VERY loud! See the same threads mentioned above, look for the video with audio, it is a magnificent noise, but not one to live with.

I find the throttle response no worse than stock really... throttle body relocated to the back of the blower.
