Hi guys,
A while back I wrote a topic regarding low comp pistons. Well i really cant afford building another engine and cant be bothered to say the least with work etc...
So i was thinking to get an AVO Stage 2 kit from AVO Performance and slam it straight on. I have done work to the engine and pulls 86kw at the wheels Naturally Aspirated.
When the topic was up, i read that it's all about the tuning and that if it's tuned correct, the engine won't blow and normal comp pistons won't melt.
SO! Whos the best tuner??? or has any feedback please share.
Cheers

Does the AVO Stage 2 come a piggy back ECU or a replacement ECU, or are you planning on getting elsewhere? If you are really interested in tuning/protecting your engine then you need need one....or at least something like a Jaycar fuel adjuster thingymabob. Which one you get is totally up to you and is only constrained by your budget. Do a search here and on miataturbo.net and you will find heaps of info.

Looking to go turbo opens up all sorts of questions, so rather than give you piecemeal advice, go check out www.miataturbo.net and go through the FAQ's etc. They can be a harsh bunch on noobies asking uninformed questions, but if you show you've done some thinking, you can ask all sorts of questions and learn all sorts of useful info.

Depends on what you consider best?
I ran boost in the teens on a stock engine for years with no issues and made good power.
To me, being able to drive it home after thrashing it at the track was more important than a few extra HP. No good making a little more power if it's so lean it breaks and leaves you stranded...

I have a Wolf v500. The AVO Turbo does come with a piggy back but i probably wont need it, i think.
I drive my car everyday from home to work, drive it easy and only really want the power for track as you said.
I don't want any dramas, however, seeing as i drive it nice and sometimes give it a squirt to keep it on its toes shouldnt be a problem i'd think.
Im from Burwood, Melbourne.

Maztech in Melbourne have a pretty good reputation form what I've heard.
Might be worth giving them a buzz.
I'd also talk to AVO about the kit you decide to buy, they offer a complete kit minus electronics, so no computer etc which might save you a dollar or two if you're planning to get a proper ECU anyhow.
I've done a fair bit of playing with AVO kits (including my own cars) and highly recommend them

If you go there, they are great for tuning...... but your better off doing any mechanical work yourself.
