I'm considering either adding a Jackson Racing Supercharger or BEGI S4 turbo kit to my NA6. I've been spending a few months researching my options and I have started by building a DIYPNP Microsquirt.

What compliance/engineering issues am I likely to face in Queensland?

I presume I would need to have the setup engineered and have a mod plate fitted but is there other processes I have to go through to do this legally?

Thanks.

My understanding of the easy-going Qld laws, all you need is a mod-plate (just a couple of hundred bucks). Perhaps ring the licensing guys for the exact process.

Just whack it all together, find an engineer who will provide a mod plate, and you're done. Shouldn't be too difficult to get a mod plate when you use a kit such as the ones you've mentioned. There's quite a few guys here who have s/c or turbo'd their 5's in Brisbane without any problems... It's all very easy really.

Jerrah,
Providing everything is done properly you won't have any issues at all.

I'll pm you a name and number.

Have it all done clean (installed properly and well maintained).

Have it safe (all fasteners done up properly, proper hose clamps, good brakes, etc).

Have it legal (plumb back BOV, all pollution gear attached and working, oil lines in the right place, ride height, etc etc etc)

You'll have no worries. Getting married was harder work than getting my turbo sorted and complianced.

I'd chat to Danny and Richard at MX-5 plus, they're the local experts AND both engineers.

Richard can advise you but can't do your mod plate - he advises DOT on the requirements for engineering modded MX5s in QLD - that's why Boags and I had to get some other guy to do it. Mind you - the process was so simple it was painless.

My NA8 (here in Brisbane) has an AVO kit intalled with an Engineers report Mebourne. Can you recomend engineers in Brisbane who can do mod plates.
