Gday,
My motor is out and im looking at building the bottom end. Have got a 95 1.8L.
Some Q's for the turbo guys..
1.) Will a walbro 190lph HP in tank be sufficient to support up to 300rwhp?
2.) Do i need to look at upgrading to billet oil pump gears or anything as the car will be tracked ocassionally.
3.) Will the standard head untouched have any problems supporting my power goals? I will get a tidy up by the engine builder.
4.) If i go with pistons that are + 1.5mm will this cause any longevity problems, does anything else need to be looked at like aftermarket headgasket etc?
Sorry for all the q's, tried doing a search but couldnt find the specifics.
Thanks,
rxmx,

See below.......but why 300rwhp......why not 286 or 298rwhp.....I don't understand quoting numbers when there are so many things that influence it...least of which being the number you have quoted is in the upper echelon of reality for the BP motor. Not saying you can't...just saying that's heaps - even more than my race car.....so you'll need good luck with it

1.) Will a walbro 190lph HP in tank be sufficient to support 300rwhp? depends on the injectors and fuel setup but doubtful
2.) Do i need to look at upgrading to billet oil pump gears or anything as the car will be tracked ocassionally. Nope - just make sure the engine including clutch is balanced and don't use lightweight crank pulleys.
3.) Will the standard head untouched have any problems supporting my power goals? I will get a tidy up by the engine builder. Yep and springs and porting and solid lifters and cams.....
4.) If i go with pistons that are + 1.5mm will this cause any longevity problems, does anything else need to be looked at like aftermarket headgasket etc? Nope - OEM will go to a max of 1.5mm but you'll prolly need a copper with O'ringed block so it won't matter.

Thanks CT,
Lettme re-phrase,
I would like the motor built to be able to handle 300hp. Won't be running that at the track. For track work looking at about 250hp safely on less boost and safe tune. I just wanna build a motor that will be able to handle the extra power for some head room as the turbo will easily do the job.
I have 550cc injectors and a FPR, will be running a GT2876R, got it at a really good price couldnt say no.
Have got the manifold, dump pipe, Motec, Torsen, front mount and most of the other bits sorted. Car will be used for street/track.
Will the Walbro 255LPH will be a more viable solution?
Thanks,

Have you read/searched the miataturbo.net forum. Their FAQ section has some great info on what is required to achieve the power goal you have set.
