hi Guys

has anyone got any information on any custom SC installs on an NA mx5 using a toyota SC12 or SC14 supercharger?

just doing my research and wondering if this is an alternative to buying an aftermarket bolt on kit.
i have found on here a photo of an engine bay NA6 with an sc12/14 mounted where the AC unit was.
wouldnt mind some more info on that car. or if he is a member.

thanks

I've looked, there really isn't a lot of information out there about putting one of those onto a 5. There are some pics and a few small discussions but very little actually useful info.

Which in my opinion is a shame, these would be a great low budget upgrade for someone whos handy with tools.

By my thinking
SC14 $450 (for a good one with a working clutched pulley and the correct inlet/outlets)
MSPNP w/IAT $950
Brackets, pulleys, tensioner $400
Plumping&BOV $300(no intercooling)
Dyno time and tuning $400 (possible a bit more here)
Some know how and brains $free

all for a little over $2500... give or take :) obviously, if you can make any of the parts needed yourself or tune a MS its going to be cheaper

I am still not sure If I would use the clutched pulley in the way it was intended(modify with a switch and go Mad Max style?), but I think a non-clutched pulley and a return type BOV would be a better set up.

I also think spending the time and effort to get the mounting bracket in the right spot so the pulley lines up properly would be high on my priority list.

Isn't that JRSC the one from the bargain red and silver 5 sold recently?

certainly looks like it, & the new owner found an extra 5rwkw (108 v 113) all at 4.5psi! would almost certainly have to be running more boost than that to achieve that power, & of course necessitate AWIC in the first place...
