Nitrous
It is not the cheapest in the long run and whether or not it is a good idea depends on application.Mazfan wrote:Hi guys,
I have had my mx5 for about a month now, great car and I'm enjoying it very much.
It is still stock. I have thought of S/C or turbo but its expensive to do,
Nitrous is the cheapest and I'm just wondering if its a good idea.
Yes, I used to and yes, I have experience with it.Mazfan wrote:are any of you running nitrous or had experience with it?
The SVT models had a little over 10 to 1 static compression ratio I think. I am not liking the numbers already. Maybe a 50hp shot max?Mazfan wrote:What kind of HP can you run safely on stock engine? I have the VVT engine with higher compression.(2001)
As someone who has experience with NOS setups in MX5s, may I humbly suggest that using it on the race track is not the best idea. As AJ has already mentioned, NOS should only be activated at Wide Open Throttle (W.O.T.) usually to ensure that there is sufficient fuel.Mazfan wrote:I want to do track days in the future, so I'm thinking that nitrous will be the best and least expensive mod to
make up time on the higher HP cars on the straights. Also I don't like the idea of WOT, don't want to the back coming out
in town. What is the best setup? Can you fit it yourself, does the kit include everything, do you need to buy ECU?
