Turbosmart Kompact BOV - settings for an SP

Postby love5 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 9:18 am

I have acquired myself Turbosmart Kompact BOV :D as a replacement for the bosch factory one

I have searched and found different opinions on the required setting that should be used for the SP ...... It sounds like it varies for different cars but I am hoping there is some commonalities to be found among the other SP's that have already fitted them, and have had a few months to play with them?

Any advice would be appreciated...... fitting it this weekend !!

Cheers

Mine is set to full hard. No problems with that. Lesser settings will reduce "flutter" noise when lifting off the throttle, but also seems to increase lag time a little.
Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.

Turbosmart Kompact BOV - settings for an SP

It took a while to get mine setup properly.

I initially started soft, then went hard by half a turn each time, then did a test drive. In the end the setting is closer to the hard position (though mine is not near full hard). Plus with mine, the setup changed from great to terrible with less than a quarter of a turn.

Good luck.

Just fitted a Turbosmart Kompact Plumb Back Bov to an SE. Mods I have so far are 2.5" SS exhaust, larger Intercooler and have an AEM intake on order from US. Still not sure how to set this, Probably seems better near full hard position, am I causing any damage or problems having it set this way?

Mine is set about 3/4 hard.
Allows a little 'softnes; on back off, feathering throttle in the twisties.

I'm still using the standard BOv tha camewith the car, so I'm of no help to you on this one.
However, I'm now using an HKS boost controller which allows me to alter how the boost ramps up as well as when it opens the waste gate.

Did you guys who have changed their BOV's, found any improvements by doing so?
