Common issues
1) Intercooler pipe replacement ... (link to write up here)
First I've heard of that one The pipes sometimes hit on the front roll bar, but just need to loosen the clamps on the silicone joiners and move the piping around a bit so that it is far enough away from the roll bar.
2) Manifold studs, and turbo to manifold studs. Inconel studs and nuts solve this problem. Nissan S14 turbo to manifold stud kit a well priced inconel solution. Usually just an issue with sustained high speed running and subsequent high heat exposure such as on track.
3) Turbo oil and water lines. Standard oil drain weeps, and standard lower water line gets a lot of heat exposure. Various solutions involving quality hoses and fittings. As above, shows as an issue mostly as a result of time on the track.
4) Brake line re-route. One of the brake lines fits down the tight gap between the dump pipe and bodywork. Track time can overheat this brake line. Easy enough to have that line replaced and routed through a pre-drilled hole on the other side of the ABS module.
5) Similarly, the clutch line which goes across to the left side of the car can also suffer from heat exposure from the turbo and exhaust. Braided stainless clutch line directly from master to slave solves this.
6) The standard SP clutch is awful. Replace with something such as Exedy Sports Tuff as soon as you get the chance!
7) The standard plastic Bosch blow off valve is not particularly durable. Replace with same when necessary, or buy a metal one and never worry about it again.
