Here is a stock 1.8 with hotside MP45 with 7psi, Megasquirt, DIY A/A IC, DDM Intake, Racing beat catback, DIY Toyota cops

Ignore the flywheel hp label, as the results are apparently whp

Not bad for something that can't work for a 1.8 - not 200whp but 190 isn't too bad....

...and some good links from TDR that clearly show the extra power you can get from the MP62 SC for the 1.8 !!

Interestingly though the MP45 is using the stock pulley and 62mm SC nose pulley and got 8psi, whereas I'm aware a 55mm works to push more boost. So I wonder where it would go WHP wise if you really tried to sort the kit correctly??

Those links tend to agree with what i was told on the phone. It's not about it the MP45 'not working on a 1.8", more about being minimum size for a 1.8. At 190hp I'd imagine the above graph is similar to the op's graph.

MP45 150rwkw (200rwhp)
MP62 200rwkw+ (268rwhp+)

So the figures I was told are about on the money.

i get what ypour saying here wozza...thanks for the replies
im thinking the 62 is wtg... one day ...maybe soon....no extra mods...though maybe bigger injectors....another bit of bounce...im imagining 10% more ????
and when it comes time to rebuild the engine( 200k away) then do the wild things
im curious about the mp90...does it fit and what can you make iot do :)
enjoy

I've seen two threads in the past where people have mounted a MP90 to a MX5.

One on miata.net and one on mx5nutz.

I think the miata.net car was doing pretty well with the MP90 but I'd hate to think of the drag to push the blower.

Yeah, an mp90 is for a serious build, i would suggest 250-300rwkw being the aim in power, and you raise a good point about the amount of power to drive the blower, which is another reason choosing the correct size is super important,

An SC14 is around 85 cubic inch blower, where as the MP90 is obviously 90 cubes.

SC14s can be had for around 300 every day.
