My car is running safe now and I am not worried about the IM240 because Tim almost passed it on the Dynotronics tune because of lean idle. Which we already knew it had. I am certain there will be better FI packages in the future.

Nice job mate, IM240 pretty much is low-mid RPM closed loop the whole cycle the OEM ECU should do a great job of it.

It is also disturbing that Tim may be currently driving a time bomb because of similar intimidation by Joe and ADD. shivstr bought the S/C kit with the tune and warranty. The tune wasn't right, he datalogged, provided the tuner the logs showing the areas of concern and gave him a chance to fix it. For whatever reason, the tuner couldn't/wouldn't/didn't make the corrections necessary. shivstr should give the tuner his tune back and any right to a warranty claim. The tuner should give back the money he was paid to tune the car and the money that covers the cost of the warranty. The new tuner should work his magic and offer shivstr a warranty.

my word, i have missed a lot.

All i have to say is - do not believe everything you hear from Jay.. I have now decided to keep my car AND my tune, it was the first flash it's had and it's fine. I have never had any CEL or anything

I think you guy's are in way over your heads with this stuff. My car has been running the the SC kit and Dynotronics flash for over 8000kms with not one single hiccup except a slight rough idle issue when cold, i have went WOT many many times, have done a few spirited runs and it's all fine. It's adding 20% more fuel under boost so i don't understand the "lean" issue.

I spoke to Daniel for a good half hour about all this just before and someones NC will be engineered very soon, the first emissions test passed, but they test it twice and it JUST failed apparently by a tiny bit so i am sure that will be sorted for you NSW guys.

Anyway, i am not going to get to involved in all this stuff, i am happy with the car and i have full confidence in its reliability and safety, i am going to enjoy the car as it is.

65% more air, 20% more fuel.

See the problem here?

^ If you aren't factoring in the increased air intake temprature (less density) or any other variables...

A dyno would be the source of truth not calculations like that.

Out of interest are they using calibrated widebands (like an AEM or Innovate) to tune?

There is no tuning, the plug into OBDII, upload the flash and hope for the best.

Ok heres the question, how much more torque than stock is it making, if not going off simply boost.

Regardless you dont add 65% pressure to something with ports like the MZR and add only 20 flow. And it isnt heating the air to (65/20) 3.25 times the volume. I havnt consulted my old physics books but thats a lot of heat.

Sorry Dan, don't really understand what your saying.

I have been assured by Daniel Deckers that the tune is fine and safe even for track conditions. I am going to take his word for it, if the car blows up or similar, then i will deal with it then and there but for now i am just going to enjoy the car as it is and hopefully proove to some of you guys that the kit and tune is ok and safe.

Sometimes i think that forums really twist a lot of peoples opinions on things and we all forget what we are really here for, to enjoy the MX5 at it's best.

Anyway, that is my opinion and that's all i have to say on this topic.

Cheers

just some food for thought... Jay told me in an email "DONT DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE, IT IS NOT SAFE WITH THIS TUNE" what he doesn't know is that i have been driving the same car with the same tune for over 8000kms with no problems at all, i have been WOT heaps of times.... not one problem, maybe im just lucky? i highly doubt it.

don't get to caught up in the BS guys really

The stock ecu is able to pull significant amounts of timing on knock detection to save the engine.

What Im saying that that an N/A engine pulls in 14.7psi of air from the atmosphere, you are adding 10psi extra, thats 65% more air, and only adding 20% more fuel.

Thats 37% too lean.

Now the supercharger heats the air up, which expands it, so it isnt really 65% more air, it might be 50%, but you are only adding 20% more fuel.

It just isnt right.
