Any advantages in using adjustable cam gears?

Not a whole lot with stock cams, will allow you to tune the torque curve to be broader or peakier and move it up and down the RPM a bit if you dont like the turbos delivery.

US eBay is probably the cheapest place for decent pistons.

is that the NPR ones? They are only 160 delivered!
And apparently made in Japan, From what I have read they make a fair bit of OEM stuff for new car...cant be too bad...can they?

What compression ratios should i be looking at for a turbo setup?

Cheers

There are lots of worthy ones - I've never used or even held NPR ones...

I've used CP which were an excellent piece of gear, but are a bit more than NPR. Heaps of guys have used hypertech etc, if you're looking 200ish rwkw, any of them will be fine including NPR I guess.

In terms of comp ration, it depends on your plans. You could go lower comp if you want massive boost in the futre, but if you're sticking with the S15 T28 turbo, stock comp will be ideal, it'll also leave you without a hole off boost, not that it takes long for the little turbo to overcome the boost threshold/lag point...

At the sort of boost you'll be running with that turbo, rods and more specifically rod bolts will be your biggest issue - Also, get your block checked before you go buying a piston set, just to make sure you don't want/need to go a little over sized.

Whats considered low/high comp?

I have bought pure perfomance rods with arp studs...

Go the T28 - trust me, they are fine on a 1.6 and the s15 turbo is almost identical to what is used on the factory turbo 1.8 SP model. It's more than quick to spool on a 1.8 mx5.

Low/high depends on the person. from memory different MX5 engines ranged from 9 to 9.5 to 10:1 compression ratios, in my opinion 9.5 is pretty nice for 15-16 psi on the t28 (assuming no major head or cam changes).

Which pistons should i run? Any suggestions??

There are so many on the market at so many different prices?

Your experience/suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm rocking CP pistons just because a mate has them in his mental big turbo SE and it holds up. They are probably much of a muchness though.
