Ill explain it quickly as I'm in a hurry.

A naturally aspirated car has no intercooler.

A turbo car has an intercooler.

Intercoolers transfer heat from the air in the cooler, to the cooler, to the air flowing through them on the outside, using convection.

The bigger the difference in temperature the faster heat is transferred. Using an example: there are 2 bathtubs, one has 10 degree water, one has 2 degree water. If your body gets down to 10 degrees internal temperature you will die. So why does the 2 degree bath kill you faster? Because the difference between you and the 2 degree water is higher, so you transfer your heat into the water faster.
Thats why it FEELS colder too, because you are losing body temp faster.

Ok intercoolers.

When you compress a gas it heats up. Using some random numbers : Lets say your turbo adds 50*c to the intake air, compressing it to 15psi. Its a 20 degreee day. With a cold air intake the air going through your intercooler is 70* right?
the air passing through the fins is 20* (20* day), thats a 50c difference, a LOT, big difference means fast heat transfer.
Efficient cooling. It might come out the other end of the intercooler at 22*

With no cold air intake, the air going into the turbo may be 30 degrees, so the turbo will put out 80* air. Now the difference between the turbo air inside the cooler and the air outside the cooler is 60*. Which gives us x% more intercooler efficiency, due to the x% bigger temperature difference. The intercooler will cool this air to 23*, or maybe 24. So the ten degree cooler air you gave the turbo only ends up being 1 or 2 degrees that the engine sees. which is NOTHING. Because temperature starts at -273*c, this makes the difference between 293* Kelvin and 294 or 295* Kelvin. or 0.65% difference BEST CASE SCENARIO. On a 200 hp motor that 1.3hp.

Long story short, due to how efficiency of heat transfer works regarding differences in temperature, a CAI makes sweet stuff all difference to a boosted car.

Correct me if I am wrong Dann...The power difference through temperature is SFA but having the intake kit makes a difference in the amount of air you can draw in? The difference between sucking through a straw or a hose. More important if you are turning the wick up a bit.

Of course the best thing about an intake kit is the noise...on an NA engine a lovely throaty gargle. On a turbo car all sorts of interesting whistles and sucking noises.

Search all around for intake kits, I have got a K&N typhoon kit on my NB which I ordered though ebay from the states. It was at my front door in a week and was less than half the price of what I could find locally.

FWIW K&N claim 3.5BHP or something, not a power difference you can feel really but the noise is very nice and it feels less like it is choking over 5500RPM.

How big is the throttle body?

55mm.

AND it has a butterfly in it.

So anything larger is a waste of time.
