I think the cheapest and best would be to go for springs, exhaust and intake first then, would like to take it to the
track as this is my first RWD car, want to feel it at the limit. I surprised how easy the back comes out, happened three times now coming
out of the corners. Do you guys know what the time of a stock mx5(NB) around Barbagallo?

Then invest in some driver training!!! The first and best money that should be spent after buying a 5!!!

Apart from that , I have to say it NOS are you mad......

Ive got a 3 stage (yes 3 boost levels) and in high at time scares the begesus out of me, who needs NOS in a 5 not me thats for sure flick a switch instant 200+++rwkw(yes there are alot more than just 200)......all day long none of this 5 sec blast BS.....

Rant over

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Mazfan, my best around the Barbagallo long circuit in an NA8 with only Tein superstreets was around 78 seconds. R comp tyres are worth ~3 seconds a lap and my current best is 73.6 seconds with some power tweaks but an internally stock engine. An NB should be slightly quicker than an NA due to slightly more power, on similar suspension in an NB8A my main rival was consistently ~0.5 seconds quicker in the speed event series. Power on the two straights won't make up for sloppy handling between turn 1 and 6, and it won't be fun or easy to drive.

If you are interested in getting into motorsport, join the local club and come out to play in our Autotest series at the RAC driving centre where you can learn about your car among friends and in a safe environment. The first event is this monday afternoon, so come along for a sticky beak.

Invest in some driver training pronto. The back of a 5 is NOT SUPPOSED to come out easily unless you drive it like a complete loon.

If I could also add that apart from driver training, perhaps the following is in order:
1) a wheel alignment by Wheelsworld (NOR) or Bridgestone Bentley (SOR),
2) new quality tyres and
3) lack of a LSD?

There's nothing wrong with the car, it grips well. The back only comes out when I really push it, I'm just saying that I didn't expect
that good torque out of the corners.
Doesn't the 2001 model have a LSD?
Mazfan,
How come you are not registered for tomorrow's Round 1 of the MX5 Autotest Series at the RAC Centre?

Not sure what torque you are referring to in a 2001 model? By nature the BP motors are not torquey motors and require a little push into the rev range to get the car really moving. And LSDs were not standard equipment on 2001 MX5s AFAIK.

Sounds good, there's a few of us here that are WASCC members, we're going to try and make sure we go the same test and tune days at Barbars.

If you're free tomorrow come past the RAC driver training centre and say hi.

Now you mention it, time to organise one before the end of the year. Gimmie a month to fit the new air heater because I am looking forward to scaring myself silly into turn 7.
