Advice for new turbo setup....
Just a word of caution, check the amount of auxiliary outputs of the Link before you do anything. Their packaged computers (not sure of the model designation) sold with the turbo kits did not have enough outputs to run a MAP sensor and boost control at the same time. The more outputs, the better mate - you can never have enough.meanmx wrote:As for the OP's original question you can definately look into AVO. They use the Link computer. I haven't got one but everything they have done on my car so far has been brilliant.
Most of the better ECUs have a dedicated boost, stepper motor and idle speed control among other functions.

As I posted up originally, I chose the tuner first, AVO. I went for the Link ECU because that's what the guys at AVO use, recommend and have experience tuning.
This is the ECU I got.... http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine- ... er/g4storm
I also have an external Boost controller, just to be on the safe side.

I have one of the ealier model miatalink ECUs from link in my 5. It has been upgraded with a later chip from Flyin' Miata. It is currently supporting a link MAP sensor, knock sensor, water/air temp sensors and when I get around to setting it up properly, a electronic boost control.
As far as ECUs go it is limited when compared to the current ECUs such as the megasquirt and other brands out there. Having said that I bought it because it has a big user base and FM provide good support of their code.
As already mentioned, and from what I can you have heeded make sure that which ever ECU path you go down make sure you find a decent tuner and support for it.

Matt, these guys are listed as an agent for Haltech. A guy I know had his car tuned there, he said they were pretty good.

Advice for new turbo setup....
hey matt,
i was at maztech in preston this afternoon. i had them do some work on my car, they were very quick and from the looks of it the workmanship is good.
anyway anthony and i got chatting about ecu's and after listenning to him talk for a while this guy clearly knows his stuff. they are a microtech dealer, a motech dealer and he has lots of experience with many other ecus. this guy gets flown interstate and overseas to tune cars for people, so clearly he knows a thing or 2. i would suggest you go have a chat to him as well. i've seen plenty of positive comments about his tuning from people on this forum in the past. eg i know pcmx5 had an ecu installed and tuned at maztech, probably worth shooting him a PM for his thoughts.

About 10-15 years ago Anthony(maztech) had the fastest rotary in the country, and he held that title for some time 2 or so years from memory.
So he would have to know his stuff very well especially in the area of F/I and tuning.

glen73 was also very happy with Anthony at Maztech - his threads follow - then just type in Maztech into "search these results" to get the threads where Maztech is mentioned - there's 6 of them.
