SP manifold bolts

Is there a way to tighten the bottom middle manifold bolt without removing the turbo?

My nuts keep falling off...

What's the best solution to stop the nuts holding the exhaust flange on to the turbo? The nuts are stupidly difficult to get at and the studs are really too short. I'm aware there are some self-locking fasteners (Stage-8 from GCG Turbos), but it looks doubtful there would be sufficient room to fit them. I don't particularly want to dismantle the assembly if possible. Is there a quick and easy solution?

Conelock nuts shouldn't come loose. They are all steel hex nuts with a distorted / squashed thread bore at the top of the thread (where the nut is cone shaped). But you need a spanner to screw them on the whole distance.

The Stage 8 items simply install like any other nut.

After they are installed, and torqued up, then you slide the teardrop locker thingy over the nut, then push on a circlip to hold it in place.



Otherwise you can use the deformed nuts as mentioned above.

Or look into lock wire.
Where the nuts are drilled to take a wire through one side, which is then anchored to another nut in a way that each nut supports the other.

Not as easy as the other methods, but a bit more forgiving for tight spaces than stage 8 style retainers.

My turbo is mounted to the manifold with (presumably standard) locking nuts and they still come loose.

Every nut from the block to the hot side of the turbo eventually works itself loose on my car. I've resorted to re-torquing everything on every oil change. Thanks for the reminder - I will need to get around to doing this on the weekend.
