Wastgate actuator question

Postby speed » Tue Jan 08, 2019 7:56 pm

Hey guys, turbo question for the gurus.

I've got a t28 from a s15 Silvia on my NA6 and recently did a motor swap. Car is not boosting as it should. I dont have a boost gauge but it just feels funky and more like an N/A.

Reckon my wastgate actuator was damaged during the motor swap. The o ring on the actuator rod was hanging out and I had to adjust the rod a few turns so I could clip it on the flap.

Would there be any harm in me swapping the t28 wastgate actuator for the one I have on a spare Nissan t25???

I mean is there even any difference?

Thanks!!!Image

Never mind. Believe I've not put enough preload where the rod clips to the flap.
Will adjust and try again!

I'm no turbo expert, but a quick google says bolt pattern is different.

My bracket has holes for both as I made it that way. Anyways reckon it's my bad for not having adequate tension.
Thank you very much though

Thanks Mark. Pretty sure it's my fault. I dont even have half a hole preload, so will start with that and see if my boost returns.
Special thanks to Chris Whittaker for talking me thru it. Absolute legend of a bloke!

You might not have a boost gauge, but you've got a megasquirt, right? So just log it and see what boost you're hitting and at what RPM. Looks like you've found the issue, but you can still check your boost response and level.
