Replacing RX-7 550cc injectors

Postby C-Gazer » Wed Oct 02, 2013 10:20 am

After some expense trying to find a fourth working RX-7 injector I realise it is time to buy a new injector set. Which brand replacement injector? Have any forum members recently replaced these type of injectors? All advice will be greatly appreciated.

What % duty cycle are you at with those injectors? You may be able to get away with a set of the yellow Denso RX-8 425cc/min injectors. They are the newer design (same as OE NB injectors) so idle much nicer and seem to get better economy.

If you need more than 425cc then I'd go with one of the Bosch EV14 type injectors. If you get the "60-11" version it will drop right in if you remove the bottom O ring.

I am using the 60mm version of these Injector Dynamics ID725 injectors (715cc) in my MX-5:

Injector Dynamics are the current "flavour of the month" and would be what I'd buy today: http://www.injectordynamics.com/ID725.html

EV-14's are my vote, 110%.

ID are said to be the best matched sets with the best spray pattern (they buy thousands and have the best flowing equipment to increase the flow, and measure them all and get sets that are within a few cc's a minute of each other.).

You will find when you go to EV-14s tuning is easier, throttle response is better especially off idle. idle is smoother, economy increases.

It's win-win. win.

The end of the story.
I bought Deatschwerks 700cc injectors Type: #22S-00-0700-4 directly from Deatschwerks USA. The order was placed late on a Friday night and turned up the following Friday amazing service. The injectors fitted OK without any mod to the standard NB injector connector. Deatschwerks also supplies the flow data for each injector.
