If you want this to spool quicker take my advice and get Dann to build something to suit your needs...
100% your lag is because of your dump, you need a free flowing exhaust and anyone that says otherwise has no idea what they are on about.
Get a bigger free flowing dump and you will notice a massive difference in spool time.

Not disagreeing about the dump pipe but do all avo powered b6's spool at 4500rpm with such small turbos? 4.5k is really late

I work on one that spools around 4k on alcohol.
It's in my possession right now having all the avoid gear replaced with tubular goodness and 3.5" exhaust.

No Rxmx I have a standard avo kit fitted to my 1.6 and mine like yours was, is very responsive and is also on full boost by 3000 rpm. I would suggest taking advice from people who have had experience with these kits, maybe dan can take a photo of one of these useless bits so people can get some idea of how resctictive they aren't. Just because they have a severe angle does not mean they are useless, they still have a very reasonable internal diameter that may surprise some people. Many have been very happy with these bang for buck kits for many years, over ten in fact. I myself have been involved with 13 of them over the years. And before everyone says bigger is better, of course it is right, well both Rxmx and I agree the standard avo was by far the most responsive and enjoyable set up compared to what we now have, I however am lucky enough to have both, my grey car has all the custom bits and makes 330 Rwkw. The kit from avo I purchased recently was complete minus the turbo and cost me $1680.00, I purchased a second hand s15 turbo for $250.00 from a Nissan wrecker in Smithfield, and it currently makes 159 Rwkw at 14 psi. The build is featuring in an upcoming motive DVD feature including trips from the dyno to the track.

I wonder what is different in your setup. Perhaps we should compare torque curves.
While you may hit peak boost at 300rpm on a stock restrictive head perhaps we could compare torque curves and what RPM at which you hit peak torque.
Ive made a log manifold with a 3" exhaust and a Non ball bearing S13 turbo that makes 200hp at 10psi and starts making boost at 1850rpm.
If you have the key to making boost earlier on the AVO setup I would be interested in your thoughts. However this car was built by Deckspeed, and then tuned and modified extensively by Mania before it reached my hands.

The car your working on sounds like its far from stock Dann, the original post im assuming was in relation to a stock B6 with an avo kit which seems to have an aftermarket exhaust bolted up to it making 7psi @ 4500rpm, this doesnt sound right even with the avo gear as mentioned by na06ce he's running on a stock block na6 making boost way before 4500rpm as I did with my stock block na8 so I dont think the dump pipe would be choking as much as you guys make it out to be.

I'd have to log it to tell you, however with a very worked over head 7psi represents a lot more airflow than on a stock engine so it's not really a fair comparison.

I find it hard to believe that dump pipe creates THAT much restriction but it is possible.
My vote is on wastegate creep, that turbo probably has a tiny little spring in the actuator that can't hold it closed.
