Hey all,
I have a Garrett T2560R Turbo, it's basically dead, water inlet hose split causing starvation and it has a tiny whole in the cast iron centre. I'm looking ahead for a replacement, obviously another 2560R is perfect, however they are rarer to find etc.
From a factory ECU perspective, I am worried upgrading to a larger turbo such as a GT2871R would effect my ECU parameters such as the air/fuel ratio and I don't want to run it lean.
Anyone aware of my possibilities, limitations and options?
regards,
Hayden

Your ECU will have been tuned to match that turbo so the simplest solution is to replace it with the same turbo.
If you want a different turbo, you'll need an aftermarket ECU too - or get Chiptorque to mod your ECU.

Thanks Lok, this is what I assumed. I'll just buy a new "original" turbo

Yes and no...
The factory tune is less than perfect, and a slightly more efficient turbo won't see a significant enough change to cause you issues.
A 2871 is a fair step up though and might be pushing it, it's also going to only be significantly "better" if you have a strong enough bottom end to stand up to extra abuse.
My advice would be to get a similar turbo as a replacement. There are truckloads of bolt on replacements that won't require a retune.

When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
