Intercooler size NA6

Postby Dweezle » Sat Feb 04, 2012 9:01 pm

I scoured the web for intercooler sizes appropriate for an NA6.
Seemed like Just Japs "550x180x65" would be a great fit so i picked one up today while nearby.

Then i have to come across someone discussing that a 550x140 fits better and the 180 has issues.
Wish i had of seen this before hand.
Though they do not go into any detail on why.

Just wondering if anyone could confirm if i will have issues or will it work just fine.

I can always try and exchange for the 140 on Monday if it will be be an issue.

Thanks in advance.

It all depends how you mount it mate, the 180 can be made to fit with no more effort than the shorter one.
I always thought (found) the width was the biggest challenge to getting pipes to work, for the money the AVO kit is awesome in that sense cause it comes with pipes etc (you can buy just the cooler kit without the rest of the turbo set-up). Obviously thats more costly than a mass prodiced cooler, but by the time you pay for pipes etc, the AVO one is pretty competitive.

Anyhow, the moral is that this one should fit reasonably easily - The most important thing is to get your airflow and ducting sorted nicely.
