Just wondering if anyone has been following the development of the Kraftwerke Rotrex supercharger? It sounds to good to be true - DIY installation and easy removal (no oil lines etc). Also supposed to be quiet with out the whine of others. Seems like its about to hit the streets for NB but only at prototype stage for 1.6.
Wish I new the answer as to when it becomes available as maybe I cant wait and will have to go turbo.
Anyone got any views?

Here is some interesting feed back from someone that has one.

"Hey guys, I am running the Kraftwerks production kit and love it.
To address Miata GT’s question about the stage one kit, IMHO is the perfect balance for the street for the following reasons:
1) It has very linear acceleration making it very easy to drive.
2) If Mazda had a larger 6 cylinder engine option, it would feel like the Rotrex kit. No weird noises, no huge bump in the acceleration, just more power.
3) The engine finally feels like it matches the chassis. I do feel that it was too much for my old stock suspension though, I upgraded shortly afterwards.
4) More torque! I no longer have to downshift 2 to overtake another car on the highway.
5) I drive my car every day, and the kit requires no special attention. I have been running this now for about 6-8 months and have had to do zero tweaking. I get in the car, turn over the ignition, and I drive away in a very spirited fashion. I put this on the car with ~89K on the clock, and I am at 96K.
6) My car is invisible in the Nazi police state city that I live in. No supercharger whine, no fart can exhaust. It’s a perfect sleeper. (Please note that I like my Nazi police state city. It’s quiet here. I just don’t want to be pulled over)
7) Gas mileage is about the same. I have dropped 1-2 MPG. Considering that I have always dríven my car like I stole it, it now looks like I robbed the bank too!
“Personal” reasons that I like this kit.
1) Oscar Jackson created this kit. I have heard great things about the reliability of his old kit and his dedication to his customers. I am also very impressed that he is not caving in to “quick money” by releasing his kits quickly. Like many auto manufacturers, he tests them on the track under grueling conditions so he knows that they will be bullet proof on the street.
2) Upgradeable. I am at 157 whp. I can go up to 300. Enough said.
3) Less parts. One of the things that I learned as a formally trained Industrial Designer is that less fewer parts mean that there are fewer things that can fail. Fewer things to fail means increased reliability. When you see the Kraftwerks kit installed, it seems like it only has only 5 parts. Bracket, Rotrex unit, fluid reservoir, belt cooler and pipes. In my imaginary world, this seems like it should be bulletproof. So far it has been.
4) Elegant. This thing is beautiful. All of the parts bolt-snap-clip in/on to existing holes in the chassis or frame. No drilling, welding or forcing parts. It seems like it was engineered by the factory and precision made. I like that.
In conclusion: I have had an awesome experience with this Kraftwerks Kit and the company. Highly recommended. I hope this feedback helps!

its a JOY to drive - very linear and VERY streetable, but wind the revs up and you make BOOOOOOOOST, lots o fun !

That sounds more like a turbo!

not as much low end torque as turbo
for example, 4000 rpm only running 5psi, then upto 7000rpm running 8psi (ish) just change pulley sizes for more / less boost.
the major plus in the super efficient compressor, very good at keeping intake temps down. dont forget, in the lotus i have packaging / heat management difficulty .. small water to air intercooler and rad at the front of the car, am hitting about 45 deg c at the intake manifold after a bit of caning it - 33 deg c just cruising around. ambient temps of mid 20's
on track later this month to prove recent upgrade to heat exchanger.

That's the only thing I see against it - boost takes awhile to kick in (and the price of course). I really like the quick install removal.
