Just curious what fuel pumps people are using for forced induction setups.

Has anyone tried installing a Bosch 040 in-tank pump?

The type of pump and the pressure available should be based on your requirements, and other components of your induction system. i.e. what levels of boost are you wanting to run. What injectors are you using. Do you have a stand along ECU, a piggy back ECU or something else? With this sort of information you will get answers you need.

Just get a Walbro in-tank pump and it'll be fine for whatever you throw at it.

They can be a touch noisy however.

Mainly I was interested in installation details - whether the walbro / bosch in tank pumps fit the factory in-tank brackets etc. I guess I'll find out when I open the tank, but it's always nice to see what others have done first.

OTOH if others have found an in-tank setup infeasible for some reason then that's good to know too.

@Juffa I can figure out the flow requirements based on estimated power output and BSFC, so don't really need advice on that front.

I've put the Walbro GSS342 models into a couple of MX5s with no problems, easy install too... As others said, they can be loud, Gary on here wrote a good thread about quietening them down.

I ended up putting in a walbro 255 today, and it was indeed a direct fit. It was about 5mm longer than the factory NA one, so it required a slightly longer screw with a short spacer under it.
