EVAP cannister delete

1999 NB 10AE 'relatively' stock naturally aspirated 1.8 BP4W...OEM ECU.
Registered mainly Track-day use.

I have some leftover bits from an earlier NA that was sent to 'heaven' (RIP).

I want to re-purpose one of those bits...
An old 'MX5Mania' Fibreglass Cold Air intake (incl. Cone Filter).
They draw cold air from the Wiper mechanism, Rain Trough area.

To do so, I will need to....
1. Delete the OEM Airbox
2. remove the OEM Strut Brace (to allow clearance for the Air Intake tube)
3. delete the Washer Bottle (maybe fit a relocation bottle later...not!)
4. redirect the existing Air Temp Sensor into the Fibreglass Cold Air Intake Tube
5. redirect the ABS brake lines under (over) the CAI tube.
6. cut a hole in the Rain Trough and fit the CAI tube into fresh air, via a rubber ring (hopefully above the highwater line)

The 2nd thing I would like to do, is cleanup the drivers side engine bay...by deleting the EVAP Cannister and associated Sensor, cannister and hoses...will the OEM ECU cope with the removal?

The only other query is...will these changes impact the Registration protocols?

Any opinions, guidance is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Still in NSW? More familiar with NA, so NB ATS is in the air box?

Re (2), if you delete the sensor, almost certainly the ecu is going to chuck a hissy fit, ie throw a CEL. Unplug the sensor and see what happens. Does your rego inspection bloke worry about CELs? If he does, just take the CEL bulb out of the cluster, I don't think that has anything other than the obvious effect!

I installed the Loch Stewart intake in my original GM (98 NB8A) with (Whiteline?) brace, it rubbed but didn't need any further mod, you sure it needs removal? It didn't have ABS though, so no worries about the lines, you will need an extension for them, I doubt you will be able to avoid that. It located the IAT in the tube. Does the Mania one replace the airbox like mine did?

Good luck, I loved the noise mine made :D :D 8)

Slowpoke had Gary Stewart install his CAI (mark 2 was the same as the Mania one, while mark 1 was a larger box-like type) on his 10AE & I'm fairly sure Gary found a way to do it with very minimal disruption:

Mine was the conical filter one, with an aluminium tube that may have been tapered.

It is possible that Gary/Loch had a method to avoid the brake lines, it just looked difficult to me but maybe some judicious bending/moving would give sufficient clearance. The opening is not huge.

I asked about water ingress and was assured it was not an issue.

Thanks guys,
Always worthy of useful comments/opinions.
Will keep the Evap, as is.

Photo attached...of rough location for re-purposed NA CAI.

ABS brake lines....will definitely need a reroute
Washer Bottle......delete (incl. brackets etc.)
Strut Brace(s).........may have to go, the OEM will interfere with the CAI and this aftermarket NA spare looks like it may interfere with Intake Manifold Vent nozzle...when bolted down.

Will need to fit a DIY extractor heat shield.

I'll attempt the brake line mods, with cupro-Nickel and one of these Ebay Double Flaring tools...attached.

I believe the OEM is SAE "Double" Flaring (not Bubble Flaring)...can anyone confirm this for 1999 NB?
Cheers,
Jim

Tks for the pic to jog my memory - Slowpoke said Gary found a way to go through the gap in the brake lines that's visible in your pic by gently bending them. From your pic, presumably it was the top line as that looks like the one that could allow movement. But of course you can also do a reroute. Re the strut brace, often the Cusco higher strut brace is used to provide clearance, it's usally blue in colour, but IIRC I've seen some yellow higher strut braces as well: https://mx5mania.com.au/products/nb-1989-2114
