High performance braking

I found this link while i was looking for solutions to braking problems with the tow car. Descending Clyde Mountain with 3 tonnes of car and trailer in rain and mist is not fun when you start getting serious fade and shudder. It's good general background for both track and street brake setup decisions.

Clear, concise info, but am concerned about their "60mph-5mph, ten times..." theory. Seems excessive, and unfeasible.

Nope, that's how I've been taught to bed in brakes on my road cars, maybe not from 100km/h, but at least 80km/h to near stop, for around ten stops. Generally the brakes smoke a lot and I get some strange looks from passers by, but have yet to have a car with a vibration in the pedal, including two of the most renowned cars for this, an AU Falcon, and my current BF ute.

I've usually done 5-6 consecutive pulls from 60-5kmh for Hawks on my MX5. It's always worked well and it's pretty safe.

Also finally had my first drama-free run down the Clyde with 3.8tonnes all up on a Falcon BF ute. New DBA series 4000 front slotted rotors with Bendix Ultimates - slight fade, no shudders and very hot brake smells
