Custom fitting an exhaust (is it possible?)

This question may sound stupid but I'm confused as am new to this. i was wondering if it is possible to custom fit an exhaust from another model of car onto my na6. For example a spoon n1 muffler made for another model car to into an na6, is it possible? And if so how do I go about doing it?

Do you have a budget for this or will it be done DIY?

If DIY do you have access to a pipe bender, welder and other assorted metal work tools?

Not to worried about budget just yet as it won't be too hard to save. But I would probably prefer to get it done at an exhaust shop if possible just to be safe

Very possible.
In fact, it's extremely common.

The only real issue is to check that the exhaust you are using will physically fit in the space you need it to.

The rest is just a matter of cutting off the pipes and having a shop (or yourself) weld on new ones to suit whatever car you are fitting it to.

My girlfriend has had a Mugen Twin loop fitted to her NA6 for about 8 years now.

All they did was cut off the hangers, the tip, and the pipe to the right (inlet pipe)

A right angle was welded on the inlet to line up with the OEM midpipe, and another welded on the exit to line up with the hole in the MX5 bumper.
Hangers were then welded on to line up with the MX5 ones on the car.

She bought it with most of the work done already, so it was cheap.

Bear in mind an exhaust shop cost will depend on just how much they need to do (and how much pipe they need to supply/bend)
if it can be done with off the shelf bends and minimal extra stuff, then it could be as low as maybe $100, if they need to do a lot, the price will reflect.
