Yes everyone, it is on and planning is well underway. This will be a fun, relaxed event on the "Sunny" Coast of Queensland with other MX-5ers.

Here is your advance warning of dates along with some introductory information.

Please note the dates: Saturday, 12 April 2014 - Tuesday, 15 April 2014. THIS IS NOT THE EASTER WEEKEND - it is the weekend prior. Yes, it's over 13 months away at this stage but don't say we didn't give you enough time to get your affairs in order.

Click on the icon or the banner to go to the website page. It's still in development but you can see what's on offer. Please check the website from time to time for news or updates.

Registration with pricing is planned to open in April 2013.

Track Day entry forms will be available in early 2014 - don't miss the opportunity to drive iconic Lakeside. 8)

Concours d'Elegance classes will be advised on the Registration page. Judging criteria that are fair and appropriate to the "real world" of MX-5 ownership will be published in due course. If you're thinking "Pebble Beach Knob Polishers", then forget it. :wink:

See you there :!:

Registered (and will pay the full entry fees) but not booking accommodation as I'm not sure if I could get leave to attend. If I can't attend, I'm certain someone get collect the shirt and window banner on my behalf.

The rooms are $160.00 per room per night not including full buffet breakfast which is $15.00 per person per night. Max persons per room are advised in MINX's post above.

True, but it IS in Queensland and you'll still need to get there. :wink:

A few sums to help put things into perspective:

NatMeet X in Canberra (per couple)
Entry Fee = $1090
Accommodation + breakfast = $643
Travel costs for Sydney to Canberra return = $70 (580km return, $1.50/L petrol, 8L/100km, no meals/accommodation)
TOTAL = $1733

NatMeet XI in Sunshine Coast (per couple)
Entry Fee = $590
Accommodation + breakfast = $700
One dinner not included = $60
Travel costs for Sydney to Sunshine Coast return = $690 (2090km return via New England Hwy, $1.50/L petrol, 8L/100km, two nights at motel $240, 4 days of meals $200)
TOTAL = $2040

... and the cost of the track event was not included in either case.

So yes, my sincere congratulations to the Queensland NatMeet committee for managing to keep the entry fee to a minimum. Those savings will help offset the costs of getting there. Well done! 8)

Attending NatMeet is certainly NOT a cheap exercise. However, it is a hugely enjoyable event which I highly recommend. All MX-5 owners should put NatMeet on their bucket list. I will always treasure the memories of attending the gala dinner at the Australian War Memorial under the wings of "G for George", the fancy dress buffet at the National Film & Sound Archive, and the Concours display on the lawn between the National Library and Lake Burley Griffin. Read more about it here.
