The Gold Rush Hill Sprint is taking place on 10 and 11 July at Mount Morgan/Bouldercombe in Central Queensland for its third running, following a cancellation last year due to a pandemic.

I'm going up for it, and there a number of other local Mx5ers on the entry list. There's actually a total of ten Mx-5s on the entry list which is excellent to see.

The course has been extended so that the starting line is much closer to the pit area. This adds some straight and sweeping sections before the tighter part of the climb, and I believe they've had to include chicanes in at least this part to manage top speeds.

I will attempt to post from my facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ManDrivesCar) while I am there if you interested in seeing updates from the event.

First peak at the extended course this afternoon.

The additional length is at the start before the first hairpin, and is broken up be two giant hay bale chicanes.

There’s quite a few Mx5s entered this year that I have not seen before.
