I recall seeing P Brock going through Hungry consistently on three wheels in a Crummydore - front left about 150 mm off the ground.
It sure was a goat track 30+ years ago too.

Glen Seaton's skyline exiting hungry looked like a complete handful every lap. Don't know how the tyres lasted.

I've heard differing versions of the reason that corner at Lakeside is named "Hungry". The most recent & apparently current one is due to so many cars managing to exit the "island" through over exuberance or whatever. The "original" reason that I'm aware of if memory serves was penned by self described, now sadly departed, motor noter Bill Tuckey way back who gave the Peter's Ice Cream sign in the infield adjacent to the corner as the reason. Both seem valid.

Yes, that's my recollection from the late 60's too DTH.
We used to spend the day sitting in Eastern Loop on a blanket on the grass and watch them come down under the bridge and into that turn - always entertaining. There was a food/drinks kiosk in Eastern Loop near where that clump of bushes is currently.
There was another kiosk/ice cream/drinks shop area on the north/west side of "Hungry" right next to the track. You could watch all the mayhem happening while waiting for your ice cream.
So, lots of hungry people at the food kiosks and lots of rolled/bent cars in the corner.
