Production Sports QLD is again hosting another two special events this year for Mx5s, this time it has opened up to the 86's as well :)

The first will be at Lakeside on the 3rd and 4th of June 2017. Last year this event attracted 26 Mx5' competitors.

Below is a video from the last Mx5 Challenge that you may have already seen.

I hope to see you all there.

Trying to arrange time off to attend. Need to get more seat time at Lakeside before fully committing, I over committed just after Hungry at my last visit!

Bugger. I would have come North from Sydney for this event but it conflicts with Round 3 of the MX5 Cup NSW.

Hi folks, really interested in this - but could not see where to enter on the PSCRAQ home page? Is it too late to enter? And what do I need in the way of safety gear, eg full harness, I presume?

Entries will be done through the QR website, with payment made to the club.
You will require full race clothing, helmet, hanns, harness and at least a decent roll bar (auto plus, agi etc). You can find the requirements on the qr website.
Entries probably won't be up for a while.

So ahead of the entries opening up, can I just ask folks about what sort of value you think it was last time? I'll need to drop about 1K to organise the harness and the HANS, so it would be great to get an idea about how much seat time the event offers, and what the entry cost was last time?

From the people I spoke to they had a 'ball' and were made feel very welcome, hence why I'm going to (work dependent) attend this year.

The seat/harness/frontal head restraint (FHR) is worth spending the money on irrespective. Simpson have a 'deal' (3 easy payment plan) going for their FHR offering. Not wanting to open a can of worms, but from all reports the Simpson FHR is more comfortable and provides better side impact support than the Stand 21/HANSĀ® FHR.

Check CAMS Schedule D/I for details on what it accepts, you would not want to purchase a FHR that you cannot use in a CAMS event.

CAMS will only recognise the SFI Standard 38.1 FHR devices up until the 31/12/2015, when the SFI Standard 38.1 devices will no longer be recognised. CAMS has only ever recognised and recommended the use of FIA approved devices.

Yeah it was awesome. Some good racing over a decent spread of times, from 56s to 65s.

If I started again on modifying a car for track, regardless of sprints or racing, the first three things I would get would be a seat, harness and hans device. (clearly I would get a helmet too...)

I possibly have a spare Hans device if that will help.

Sorry I should have mentioned that Entries are already possible. just head over to the QR website http://qldraceways.com.au/ and through their entry system.

It will be a race meeting, QRDC round 3, and press enter for Production Sports. I would recommend sending an email to the club also just for follow up. http://www.pscraq.com.au/contact/

In the QR entry system , the cost is coming up as $0. I'm presuming we pay the PSCRAQ directly - but does anyone know how much it will cost?

300 ish for the full weekend. They haven't sent out any emails as yet for it, so I'm not sure. You'll also need a race license if you don't already have one. You can purchase an event license for $60 ish.
Have you done many sprints or races before?

Tim_cyc03, thanks for the very generous offer for the loan of a Hans. But if I do end up entering, I think I might just have to bite the bullet. As you said, it seems to be an essential bit of kit now,and I even heard a rumor that Morgan Park will be requiring these next year even for sprints - and I really want to try that track.

Pohl, have only done 3 sprint days so far - 2 at QR, one at Lakeside. Have also done a couple of general practices where there was only one group for all sedans, including full race cars, and I managed to stay out of everyone's way, and not get yelled at in the pits. Also asked our compsec his opinion of whether I am ready yet. My fastest (and first time) Lakeside time is 1:06, and QR Clubman was 1:05. That was on road tyres, but since then I have accessed some decent semi slicks, so I'm hoping this might help a bit too.

Does the above context sound like it might be too dodgy to enter?
