Lakeside Street Sprints Rd 1

Postby Magpie » Mon Mar 27, 2017 9:17 am

Heaps of MX5's at general practice and street sprints, plus a few MX5 spectators. Of the 39 cars that ran only 1 got under 60 seconds.

Bit of a wild day with a apparently poorly latched top popping open in the first session and a 'mind in neutral' fairly low speed spin on to the dirt at the end of the braking zone of Hungry.

Gradually got to grips either the new 4.3 Torsen as the afternoon wore on and finished within a tenth of my PB at 65.7.

Managed to crack a windscreen on the way home, too.

My off at Eastern Loop https://www.facebook.com/mx5na6/videos/502881636766307/

Will get this video up on You Tube soon, want to do a few of the exciting parts, like a certain car that was diving in under brakes at Karrussell and some of the traffic we had.

Stopped just short of the tyre wall, not the smartest place to go 'off'.

Lucky.
It's actually not that bad of a place to go off if you just head off the track up the hill. I have seen too many cars rolled crossing from the inside to the outside of the track. I tend to give up on correcting it as soon as I know I'm going off and aim it to the inside of the track and up the hill.

Thanks, been a while since I have done any post video editing work, normally just throw it together. It is a tough call what to include/exclude not to mention the amount of video to review :(

Will also include some of the stills taken next time to capture more of the atmosphere and people who attend. My partner and daughter took many photos, not to mention the ones taken by Ross.

My photos are in a public album here: https://www.facebook.com/RossPonting/me ... nref=story

I didn't take too many, easy to spend too much time shooting and missing all the fun so I only shot cars of people I know.

Finally got dashware to render the video, had to use the laptop for some reason...

My fastest lap of the day. Greg got me on fastest mx5 for the street sprints, but only just. Damn turbos.

These wheels and tyres would help you guys at the Sprints. That is what I bought them for. I now have a Lotus Elise and want to get a second set of rims with A050s on them.

Good to see the old girl still getting around the track Phil ;)

You were pretty lucky to stop short of the tyre wall in the off at Hungry Mark. I've seen it end a lot worse for other cars.
