MX-5 Club of QLD - Track Day Morgan Park 19th March 2016

Thread started.
I hope I haven't stood on anyone's toes getting this thread started. But it's time to start getting myself organised.
I'm just filling out the paper work to get a CAMS L2S license. It's not that far away so it's time to get moving on this. Who else is thinking of running?
I've done a couple of SDT training days at Morgan Park, the track is fantastic fun and suits our cars really well, certainly more than worth the cruise up to Warwick and back.
It would be good to know what else we have to do to pass scrutineering, fire extinguisher, battery sticker etc.
My son is thinking of doing the SDT training on Sunday the 20th March in his SP23, I'm kinda hoping he might have room for some track wheels, I don't really fancy driving up to Warwick on Nitto NT01's. If I can't get him to be my support vehicle I'll run road tyres.
cheers
Keith

Thanks for the heads up on this. I picked up an extinguisher at a recent SCA sale and just need to work out how to mount it, and I need to kick off the CAMS paperwork - I pretty much drive past their head office in Milton so I just need to drop in and get it done. Jobs for this week.

Received an email from SDT yesterday:
Yes the morning session only has 8 cars booked at this stage.
$220 is the fee for a group of Mx-5 owners.
I have attached the 2016 flyer with enrolment form.

Was thinking about PM myself ;)
Chance for a swim Sunday morning before checking out and grabbing some breakfast.
I am a leisurely old bugger though.
Does mean getting home late Sunday but that's only going to affect work on Monday morning and quite frankly they can go get ****ed.

[color=#000080Hi Guys,
meandering thru the forum FS ads, I picked up on this thread, relevant to me as I had intended being there, but 'life' may intervene. That notwithstanding, my interest is piqued by the potential for confusion for some, given the original was started by RB in reference to the MX5CQ track day on the 19th, but has 'morphed' somewhat with reference to the SDT training day on the 20th.
No problems for the experienced and 'return' visitors, and certainly for those who, as I had hoped to, will attend both, but the 'requirements' (Cams etc) needed for compliance are quite different for either event.
Maybe playing'Devil's Advocate but just a heads up for the new or unwary, to seek clarification if you are at all unsure
Best for the wk end whichever,
Greg S
P.S. Apologies Mark-I think I sent this to you as a PM by mistake 1st off, so don't take it as a 'dig':-)
Clearly I need 'digital dialysis!"

OOOOPS my bad it is the MX5/Porsche club track day on 19/03 that the OP was asking about...
For the MX5/Porsche club track day on 19/03 you will need a CAMS licence. I believe that there will be the possibility of getting a day licence which is cheaper.
Not sure the layout or the cost of the combined club track day yet. The Club website is still saying expressions of interest to
CompSec@mx5clubqld.com.au.
SDT is doing 2 x 1/2 day track days on 20/03/16. For those who have not been to these, this is about driver training.
As a bonus we have the club track day on 21/03 at QR...
Hope this clears up the confusion.

This might need clarification too.
MX5 Car Club Qld site calendar says QR "confirmed" on 21st March
BUT
Adam's last post in the Sticky above says QR is on 18th April, which would make more sense spacing out the events due to the Morgan Park Porsche day on the Saturday.
Unsure though. ???
EDIT: QR website calendar has us down as 18th April.
I've emailed Adam for a guide to expected pricing for the Saturday prior to making a commitment to the SDT training sessions on the Sunday.
CAM's licence application under way.

Sorry for being a bit quiet.
I have received official notification from PCQ today, and will reprocess tonight regarding:
Entry process
CAMS License
Cars and Scrutineering
Timetable
Anything else I think of
This is new for me too, so I want to do a thorough "Fact Check" before I publish anything.

Thanks Adam,
Another question I had was about any potential timing at the joint Porsche day.
I've got the transponder from QR/Lakeside but wonder if a different one will be required (cost?) at Morgan Park, assuming they offer timing?
