Will have to give this one a miss too, no car suitable, plus I will be working in Manila for 12 months, so no local track days for me....

However there is a race track a couple of hours out of Manila that I will be investigating and trying to have a play over there later in the year.

VALE: MIKE HAGEN

Whilst not an MX-5 driver, Mike began competing at our track days around late 2013 in his Orange 86

As large as life Mike found his new found interest on the track something me loved - I guess that was the daredevil in him

A Vietnam Veteren who saw the horrors of Agent Orange Mike moved to the Sunshine Coast and bought land that was large enough to have his own airstrip to cater for his love of flying. He told me of the day he sold one of his planes and when the guy came to take delivery he asked for one last flight, wish granted and he promptly landed it - upside down!

The defoliation he saw thru Agent Orange, Mike started gardening and his first task was a garden around the damn right on the edge of his landing strip. He told me that to just sit in the shade of trees made him feel so good, cleanse the demons and relax. With only books and the internet Mike set about adding to his garden and finally in 2003 he won ABC TV's Gardening Australia 'Garden of the Year'. Whilst I never saw that, I am told it was simply magnificent in every way

A foundation member of the QLD 86/BRZ Club Mike put a lot of time into ensuring events flowed smooth and everyone had fun!

Your were a rascal on the track Mike but may you Rest in Peace mate :wink:

A tribute cruise will be held on Saturday 23 January finishing at the RSL Club in Tewantin Q
